EavyDarkmatch

Development Status: Released Mar 18, 2006
Last Updated: 25 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
More Info

Do you enjoy playing in the dark? Don't forget to bring your flashlight! As Epic didn't bring Unreal DarkMatch to Unreal Tournament, someone had to do it.

DarkMatch Lives

"Eavy has resurrected one of my favorite gametypes for Unreal1. Darkmatch was largely thrown into Unreal1 as an afterthought, something experimental, but this UT mod is now the real deal. It's like Hide and Go Seek in the Dark... with Guns!"

-- Cliff Bleszinski, Lead Designer, Epic Games Inc.

"Anyone who's interested in a new/old way to play Unreal/UT should check out this: Eavy's DarkMatch is a REALLY cool way to run around in the dark hoping you'll kill someone :)

Remember, not being seen is as important as seeing!"

-- Alan Willard, Level Designer, Epic Games Inc.

    EavyHunterTournament

Development Status: Released Mar 18, 2006
    Last Updated: 25 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
    More Info

It was kind of inspired by Alien versus Predator's "Tag" gameplay yet there have been other similar mods like this before that game. This Unreal Tournament Mod is a server-side-only gametype so client downloads are not necessary. Configuration is integrated into the GUI Mod Menu.

    Rules:

The rules are simple: We have two teams, a lone hunter versus all the other players, and only the hunter (It) scores frags. To become It, you have to kill It. If It suicides, another It will be chosen automatically. It has some advanced technology to stand a chance against the opposition: Cloaking device, Damage amplifier, etc.

Please note that this can be customized by the server admin to their liking... It's a very interesting style of playing since you'll constantly switch between teamplay and one-against-all as you kill and get killed - in the end, one doesn't even know for sure who the hunter is, and who is being hunted: Is It the hunter or the hunted? You'll have to experience it for yourself!

    Enhanced Last Man Standing (ELMS)

Development Status: Released Jun 16, 2003
    Last Updated: 59 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
    More Info

    What is ELMS?

    -----------------

I've long believed that Last Man Standing is a very underappreciated GameType in UT. With ELMS, I have endeavored to add some playablitiy factors to the game to make it more fun.

    Features

    ----------

    - Color coding of player skin and HUD display to reflect number of lives remaining:

    - Green : Over 25% of total lives remaining

    - Yellow : Less than 25% of total lives remaining (your second to last life will ALWAYS be yellow)

    - Red : Less than 5% of total lives remaining (your last life will ALWAYS be red)

    - The ability to gain an additional lives through the collection of Soul Coins. When each player spawns, they will have one Soul Coin. When a player is killed, all of his Soul Coins are dropped on the ground. If anyone accumulates a set number of Soul Coins, he is granted an extra life.

    Esc

Development Status: Released Mar 23, 2003
    Last Updated: 61 months ago
Type of Mod: Multiplayer First Person Shooter
    More Info

Esc (pronounced "escape") is a 3D first and third person perspective online nightclub for the PC. A new way for people to socialize online, it combines music, dance, chat, scripted and live performances, and detailed customization.

Chat while listening to the DJ spin, then watch the band perform. Head to the dance floor and bust out your moves, which gets you better clothes, tickets to the back room or magic pills. Some pills give you new abilities, others change your appearence, still others change the way the world looks. Create your own dance moves, or entire scripted performances complete with special effects. Or just take a few good friends to a secluded booth or overlook and talk the night away.

In Esc people will be able to:

Choose their name and body, and find different clothes and looks once online.

Dance by pushing buttons in rhythm with the music, similar to games like Dance Dance Revolution and Parappa the Rapper.

Chat using text and simple animated expressions (e.g. wave.)

Take pills that give new abilities, change their appearance, change the way the world looks, etc.

Create their own dance moves or entire performances, complete with special effects. This could become a new medium and venue for machinima (movies made with 3D games.)

Start their own club with music from their own CDs or MP3s.

Leave messages with the bartender for other people, or teach the bartender responses to common questions or phrases, similar to infobots on IRC.

Esc is a total conversion for Unreal Tournament. We replace almost every aspect of the game with our own, so that each multiplayer server running UT/Esc becomes it's own nightclub. You will need a copy of Unreal Tournament to join.

    Expert UT

Development Status: Released Mar 18, 2006
    Last Updated: 25 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
    More Info

Expert UT is a server-side mutator that attempts to focus the game more on "deep skills", and less on other techniques such as item-grabbing or chance-shooting. Actually the concept has been tested for years with Expert Q2, a cult mod that is still one of the best reasons to play Q2.

Basically, it balances the power of different UT weapons, reduces the damage so that no weapon will kill with only one shot, and removes powerups and spam weapons.

This means that to frag your enemy you have to engage him on a fast and furious combat, and be better at it than he is. Lame tactics such as camping the powerups, blind spamming or respawn killing won't take you far. And even if you are targeted by a aimbot, at least you can hit back...

All you need to do is to add the "Expert UT" mutator, along with any other mut you want. Or just join a server that runs Expert UT, you don't even need to have Expert installed to play it online.

To configure the mod, go to the mod menu, and choose the Expert UT item. You can choose between two pre-configured option sets (UT-Style and Q2-Style), or just save your custom settings.

Admin note: when setting up a Expert UT server, keep in mind that deaths are much less frequent that in regular DM, so you should set a low fraglimit, good values are between 15 and 20. Otherwise matches will last too long and casual visitors will leave the server.

    Features

    • No weapon will kill you with a single shot

    • Reduced ammo and damage for most weapons

    • No Powerups

    • No Redeemer, Ripper, GES-BioRifle

    • Sniper and Minigun can be disabled to discourage aimbots

    • The Rocket Launcher works in single-rocket mode and has a higher fire rate

    • You get all weapons and some armor at respawn

    The Grapple

Expert UT also comes with a cordless grappling hook that can be used to climb walls and disembowel people. The grapple looks like the translocator, however it shoots a magnetic grapple that will embed in walls (and other players) and pull you to its location. Of course, it's an optional feature, and is disabled by default to prevent horrid CTF games.

To shoot the grapple just press fire, and release when you are on destination. You may use the grapple as a weapon too, a grapple hit makes the same damage of a Enforcer hit.
