Unreal Fortress (UnF) is a total conversion modification of Unreal Tournament.


It's a class-based mod, based on the original Quake I Fortress. "Class based" means that the players can choose between different kind of players. Each kind has certain unique skills, but also has setbacks to keep things in balance.


An example is the "Heavy Gunner". He has a big Mini-Gun, and is extremely strong. You would say he is the best class around, but he is very slow, and is hard to maneuver. He is strong, but also very slow, which makes him less of an advantage.


The Unreal Fortress mod stars 9 different classes, all with different skills and different tasks. Each class also includes specific weapons directed towards the profession of that class. (You can check them in the Image Gallery)


UnF also includes three new types of game play. These add a large amount of variety to the game since the goals for Unreal Fortress are dictated by the game type that is chosen. The gametypes are the following:

    Unreal Spray hopes to give Unreal players the chance to have spray tags like featured in Half Life and its mods. It will have full spray support, and ease of use as well. It is ran via a mutator, so it is easily added into any gametype, and should run with all other mods. Unreal Spray will also come with several included sprays.

    UTC is a fast paced class based mod, as the name would suggest (and it isn?t a course made up of lessons that aim to teach about Unreal Tournament, contrary what the smart-assed interpretation suggests). You get to choose from 1 of 12 classes, ranging from the Wraith who can decimate his enemies using the power of his mind or the Phalanx with is in-your-face brute force with his trusty Powitzer by his side or the super fast Recon, the ultimate in flag capping.


    Usage:

    To play UTC you do not need any custom maps. Simply start a new game, go to mutators and select UTC as an active mutator. Then choose you favorite map and start fragging. Yes, you read right ANY map, unlike OTHER mods, UTC is designed to be playable on any Map whether it be Domination, Deathmatch, CTF, assault, or Last man standing.


    Iridium:

    UTC has introduced a new system of skills. Each Class has their own unique skills. All of these skills are used at the cost of Iridium. You can think of Iridium as money the more you have the more you can use your skills. Iridium can be picked up from one of two places, one from a dead body; they will drop it if they had any. The second place is as a pickup; UTC has been coded to replace power-ups like Armor and Shield Belts with an Iridium Shard. Also many of you who have played the original Unreal will recognize the Iridium Shard model as Tarydium, and no you cant shoot Iridium at people in UTC, just in case you were going to ask. 8)

    Flash forward 50 years after the destruction of the Skaarj Homeworld by the Dimensional Rifts. The entire Skaarj race has vanished leaving no trace. Nobody is too sure if the Race simply died out and their bodies were destroyed by the plague of Dimensional Rifts, or if the Skaarj themselves sought refuge in some alternate dimension. The remains of their planet though have become a gold mine for a certain human corporation.


    A conglomeration of Weapon and Spacecraft building companies known as the "United For Earth" corporation (U4E) has, over the past 10 years, been slowly plundering the scarred Skaarj Homeworld for all kinds of new technology and biological treasures that have accumulated on it's surface from the dimensional rifts. The sheer amount of materials they recovered were beginning to overwhelm their labs and testing facilities when one of the company presidents suggested a more pro-active testing policy; The U4E Tournaments!


    Formed at first as a smaller league outside of the existing Liandri Tournaments, the U4E Tournaments quickly became known as the most extreme of violent bloodsports. The U4E Tournaments often pitted humans against all kinds of incredible alien opponents, stocking the arena with weapons far different from the normal Liandri arsenal. Cloned and enslaved creatures from an infinity of dimensions found themselves forced to participate in carnage laden deathmatchs for the amusement of their human captors.


    The U4E company grew to became the most powerful arms company ever known from their tournaments. They used their matches to publicize their new weapon technologies to governments all over know space. They sold the information they discovered on alien creatures to government labs obsessed with creating the prefect super-soldier. And they raked in unbelievable profits from the trillions of eager fans willing to pay premium prices to witness the most incredible carnage ever seen in the known galaxy. This is Unreal Tournament to the next level, this is the Unreal4Ever Tournament!


    Features:

    About 50 new weapons, 12 new PlayerClasses (each with unique models, skins, sounds, voices, physics, weapons, immunities and special attacks), more than 20 new monsters, 6 new maps and not to forget the return of the Living Dead... 3 new mutators can be used to get full access to the above mentioned stuff in *every* UT map and gametype, both in botmatch and in multiplayer games - and of course all 3 mutators are completely customizable with a both detailed and easy-to-use Menu system which can be found under UT's Mods section ("U4e Tournament").

    U4eFortress combines the classic tactical TeamFortress combat with even more classical RPG features, spices everything up with the well known splendour of U4e weapon functionality and optics, and finally brings you to a wholly new gaming experience by smoothly fitting in a magical system containing a total of 67 spells, each of them more unique than many many other systems of commercial games.


    The Classes:

    Each class have its specificities, abilities and weapons, you won't be able to pick the weapons of your poor and dead enemies, but only their ammo. There are 13 classes, all have weak and strong sides but each class is invidually balanced, I mean that, for example : the cleric (correspond to medic) can heal his teammates, but it also has a big hammer which is throwable, fires lightnings and hurts a lot, and he can handle the holy hand grenade. The classes like the weapons mix magic and technology, they are a bit similar to what you can find in the RPG Shadowrun, the best examples are the Cyberknight with his energy blade and the Crusader with his double-barreled-sawed-off-shotgun. Here's an overview of each class:


  • the Archer : can shoot with a ton of different arrows (like the grenades : blackhole, poison....)

  • the Scientist : can create freakin' guns, armor, holy hand grenade (yeeees, the one of...hum,well, you see what I mean)

  • the Spy : the bastard of the team, he can change his appearance and become tranpasrent if he doesn't fire

  • the Kensai : the most terrific character, he is quicker than light, his saber is deadly, and in addition, he can teleport itself to any point in his sight of view.

  • the Wizard: incredible... the most complex one, you can level up with him... and destroy everything. Ha.

  • The other classes are more or less the ones of TF : Scout, Sniper, Heavy Gunner...with some goodies like beartraps, selfdestruct and even poison vials looking like health vials.

    UnrealTournament Extension Pack

    The Extension Pack for UnrealTournament Classic is a real SDK full of new features, methods and tools improving the Unreal Engine 1 in a wide range. Next to tons of new visual features it improves overall physics (has it's own build-in Physics Engine "Thelema Physics" or short "TPhys"), has loads of gameplay and AI enhancements, a new render (currently OpenGL only) to deal with hardcoded features and bundled tools. However this is really not the first attempt of improving an old engine, the initial spark for this SDK came from the concept of the "DoomsDay Engine" and the content of this Pack that was archived before it's public announcement when it's elderly features were used for the Mod "Lost Secrets of Na Pali".

    UT Jailbreak

    In Jailbreak, like in many other game types, your objective is to frag the opposing players?but unlike other game types, fragged players go straight into safe custody in the enemy prison when they're killed. To get them out of there, one of their teammates will have to fight his way into the enemy base and trigger the jail release switch that's hidden there (Jailbreak!). It is your task to defend your prison release switch and to free your own teammates when they're in jail. If your opponents manage to get all members of your team in prison, the opposing team will score a point, and your team will die a horrible death.


    Jailbreak strongly focuses on team play and forces players to take on different roles for their team as the game goes on?defending their release switch, going into offense to frag opponents, or attacking the enemy base to release your own team members from prison. You'll have to be a versatile player to survive and win a game of Jailbreak.
