Call To Arms

Development Status: Released Oct 23, 2004
Last Updated: 46 months ago
Type of Mod: Single Player Role Playing
More Info

Features:

Call To Arms is an Action-RPG Total Conversion Modification for UT2004 that expands on the classic Action-RPG formula and brings a more interactive and engaging gameplay to the genre. Call to Arms features a point and click interface that allows you to explore the world easily and a combat system that lets you unleash devastating chain attacks and specials on your foes as you slay your enemies with magical and cursed items dropped from their very hand. View all the action from any angle with Call to Arm?s third person camera.

The Idea:

The Idea behind Call to Arms is to have the gameplay as interactive as possible. Combat is a huge part of the Action-RPGs and Call to Arms will strive to make combat more exciting. Watching your character attack enemies with little input from you the player is not interactive. The player should have choices on how, not just who to attack. This is where Call to Arms Combat system comes in. Giving the player choices of when to block, when to strike hard, when to jab keeping your enemy off balance and when to unleash a devastating combo to finish your enemy off. We also want to present combat situations to the player where thought and strategy come in to play. Rather than mindlessly clicking on the next enemy to slay, the player should have to judge quickly his course of action and use a tactic that is best suited to the situation. We also want to make a world that is consistent and have the same rules apply not only to the player but enemies and allies alike.

Premise:

The Horde of the Underworld has been united under a new ruler. He has called the very depths of darkness to take up arms and ravage the lands of the living. To what evil purpose no one knows...

ChaosUT2:Evolution

Development Status: Released Jul 2, 2007
Last Updated: 12 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
More Info

Chaos can perhaps be referred to as 'a mod for those who like the game they bought'. In other words, we make no attempt at a 'total conversion', something that takes possibly the greatest FPS game yet, and turns it into something completely different. That is not our vision.

What we have attempted to do (as always) is to expand the game, bring some nice variety to your play, but to do it in a way where (hopefully) it won't be so easy to tell where UT2004 ends, and Chaos begins. Our goal is to make the game bigger, deeper, and maybe even a little bit better, all the while appearing as if it came with the original game - right out of the box.

And in doing so, Chaos brings an entirely new feel to the game of UT2004, but does it without removing anything from the original game. Each and every weapon, item, and feature included in this version, covering everything from custom startup menus, to complete game types, to custom quit messages, has been (and always will be) designed and tested to work with the latest version of Unreal Tournament 2004.

Perhaps the heart of the mod however, are the high quality, highly addictive Chaotic weapons. And while some of them were inspired by the earlier versions of our mod, each has been reengineered and rebuilt from the ground up. Some of the weapons included are melee weapons, which come complete with their own custom animations. The melee weapons are now available in most Chaos game types, including Duel, which was created specifically for them, and which is supported by a diverse set of maps.

In addition, Chaos for UT2004 has been designed to be as flexible and as compatible as was reasonably possible. Which is why we have provided a 'mutator' version of our 'mod'. Simply so that Chaos can be played and enjoyed in ALL standard UT2004 game types, in addition to most custom game types, and even when combined with many other mods and/or mutators.

However, Chaos does in fact also come with it's own complete game types, each with full bot support, and each fully functional in online play. And it is important to note that some Chaos features (ie: melee weapons) are only available through these Chaos game types, and not thru our mutator.

Chase The Chicken

Development Status: Released Nov 8, 2006
Last Updated: 20 months ago
Type of Mod: Single Player First Person Shooter
More Info

Chase the Chicken

Essence:

"Get That Chicken!" The three words that describe it best. Take control of Chase, the paranoid and absurd chicken, who's on a quest of self discovery. Scratch that, he's just trying to survive after escaping a restaurant kitchen in a South American town. As Chase, players take to the streets, trying to stay one step ahead of the terrible and tireless Chef who's hot on their trail. Also joining in on the chase are everyday citizens who will drop whatever they're doing to run players down. They're all after Chase, in this fast-paced 3D Action-Arcade "Chaser" where the danger is never far away.

Overview:

Chase the Chicken is like a simplified cartoon version (and much less controversial) of the chase sequences in action games like Driver (Reflections Interactive, 1999) or Grand Theft Auto (Rockstar, Franchise). Players play as Chase, a ridiculous, egg-laying, male chicken, running through a small town, avoiding not only the natural hazards but also the inhabitants. As the player runs by citizens in the game, those characters will turn and join in on the pursuit of Chase.

The overall goal for the player is to continuously evade the relentless hunt and survive to a bi-plane on an airstrip at the south end of town. Chase the Chicken is aimed at a younger audience but the fun-loving atmosphere of the game attracts an older group as well.

Features:

  • Silly "Rag-Doll" Physics System: As Chase's pursuers run after him, they are likely to slip on eggs that he lays. When they do, their bodies will react accordingly thanks to Unreal Tournament's Karma Physics system.

  • Fast-Paced Action: A detailed and interesting world offers constant obstacles for the player to overcome as he/she races through the environment away from the mob of people chasing after them. Every corner brings another level of challenge.

  • Humourous Content: The subject matter is essentially "Poultry on the Run", the rest of the game follows suite and is equally ridiculous. Senseless, but good natured, fun is the goal.

  • New IP Franchise: Chase, as a character is a quality new IP and the gameplay translates well over all current and next generation gaming platforms. It's not a stretch to say that there's a lot of marketability in this title or spin-off titles

Mod Goals:

Chase the Chicken is made to be a prototype/demo of a full game, showing off core gameplay and an exciting new IP. As such, we're only featuring a single level at this point, although there's certainly room and plenty of ideas for more. Additionally, by focusing on one level, we can refine it to a stage of completion that we are satisfied with.

Team Speed-Force Alpha is also hoping to enter Chase the Chicken in the Mod Category of the Independent Games Festival in March 2007. We hope that our interesting characters, unusual game-style & idea, and overall product will take us far. Wish us luck!

Chroma

Development Status: TBD
Last Updated: 9 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer Action Adventure
More Info

Chroma is a side-scrolling, action-platform game. Color is key in Chroma; what the color of a platform is changes any special attributes that the player can receive when standing on it.

A single player story mode is planned as well as multi player class based battles.

The story so far...

Hugh [main character], being gifted with the art of colors, attends training at a facility to be apart of the elite color guard. The color guards protect the sacred color palette which contains special powers and holds the worlds colors in tact. In his training he meets another cadet, Drew, who is gifted in the art of drawing. Drew, unlike Hugh, fails miserably at color guard training (as well as social interaction with others) and is kicked out. Humiliated and disgusted, Drew then disguises himself as Hugh and steals the sacred color palette. Bewildered, Hugh is now on a mission to get back the color palette and stop Drew once and for all.

About the team:

We are students attending California State University, Chico. We are all doing this as a side project on top of our normal heavy load of school work. We are all huge fans of video games and would like to work in the industry once we graduate. We don't have much mod making experience [ranging from 0-2 mods for each person] but we all are very enthusiastic and dedicated. Creating Chroma will take awhile but we all would like to see this go somewhere great. Thank you for visiting this page.

Also, for some reason I can't show the email address for Chroma on the sidebar, so here it is if anyone would like to contact me: chromafeedb ack@gmail.com

Clone Bandits

Development Status: Released May 8, 2006
Last Updated: 26 months ago
Type of Mod: Multiplayer First Person Shooter
More Info

Clone Bandits is a mod created for Unreal Tournament 2004.

In a post-apocalyptic future, two warring clans of ruffians and ne'er-do-wells have built their outposts over the ruins of an abandoned military research compound, which just happens to be stocked with life-giving clones. Sweet, sweet clones!

As a "Bandito de los Clones" it is your duty to steal this precious genetic cargo from the other team, lest they sully the delicate ribonucleic strands with their inferior (dare I say - scurvy?) adenine and thymine.

Capture the Clone Pumps to siphon clones from your enemy's supply or boldly invade their compound, grab Clone Jars, and hightail it back to your own base in a selection of tricked-out vehicles. Drop 'em off at your own Jar Points to complete the transaction. Trafficking in human flesh was never so easy or fun!

Cosmic Rapture

Development Status: Released Feb 16, 2006
Last Updated: 29 months ago
Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer First Person Shooter
More Info

A fairly detailed contra-esque side-scroller shooter that's multiplayer compatible online. It's a four-month mod developed by myself under the watchful eye of some mentors at the Vancouver Film School. It was created for a final project in order to graduate with my Game Design Diploma. I certainly didn't want to create something that only the staff at VFS would see and play, so it's free for download for anyone who already had a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004.
