Incursion is a UT3 MOD project. Our aim is to create a fast-paced first-person shooter that is as close to the "pure" FPS gaming ideal as we can. The idea is simple, but getting it right isn't.


We plan on creating a game that thrusts the gamer right into addictive arcade style fragging, none of this realism malarky. We want gamers to load this game up and forget about time while they frag hundreds of people in a fast-paced team-based first-person shooter.


My plans for this MOD developed from my initial idea of recreating an old game I play called Infiltration. I've since thought long and hard about why I think Infiltration is such a great game, and it's those things which I'm hoping to have in Incursion.


There will be a range of weapons from the Beretta M9 pistol to the AT4 anti-tank missile launcher. Weapon damage is heavy, a headshot from any weapon will result in decapitation, lending itself to fast rounds.


'Why choose UT3 to mod with?' I hear you ask. Well, the engine is revolutionary in its capabilities. Not only this but with the release of a new game in the UT series brings a fantastic and new developing community.


We want to produce something differant from the umpteen realism war/anti-terrorism FPS games.When it comes down to it and you're in the middle of a rally of bullets you simply know that they're your enemy, and you have to frag that bastard.

Well, playing a few different games, and a few flashbacks, I had a good

idea for a Gametype. It may be a little hard to make, I myself can't do

something like this, but, I could make maps for it (Wouldn't be too

amazing, i'm new at it)


This would be a Class-Based Team-Work Oriented Total Conversion. I can help with mapping, I am EXTREMELY new at it though.


How it works:

The setting is the year 2010, an Alien Lifeform has landed upon earth

in New York City. This alien race is a new type of lifeform; something

we could not have imagined. They infect all around them, simply by

breaking someones skin. If they kill an enemy, the enemy becomes

infected immediately. Spawning back as an Infected. There will be

Two-Three Type of Maps, under the same Infection gametype. One is where

the Marines attempt to accomplish objectives, once completed they will

win the match. The second is "Escape", the Infestations will attempt to

stop the Marines from escaping. To escape it is usually a series of

switches to open the escape pods. Or something similar.


The third is a "Survival" type. A Customizable "Survival" timelimit is

given(Usually short), if the Marines survive for that long they will

win the match.


All matches are Round-Based, so the teams switch randomly and so on.


The marines will be equipped with Real-World weapons, based on their

class and the map. Some maps give gadgets like Nightvision, Mines, and

Sensors. It all varies. Every map will have certain things that will

help too, switches to drop crates, Mounted-Turrets, and so on. As time

progresses, or kills are gained, the user will gain Money which can be

used to buy Ammo, Special Skills, New Weapons, and so on, for the next

round.


There are two teams:


Marines:

Spawn with Weapons, and Grenades. For these guys, I would like to see

real-world weapons with flashlight attachments. Also grenades, this

adds to the atmosphere. I myself could make some Mediocre maps for

this, they would be fairly dark, a stranded type attitude. I am very

new with mapping though.


Classes:


Soldier :

Weapons - Assault Rifle Type, Pistol Type, 3x Grenades.

Abilities - Able to use Heavy Machine Guns and Wield (Pick-Up) Mounted Turrets.

Skills - Enhanced Firing Systems 1-3 (Increases Firing Rate), Spring

1-3 (Gives the ability to run faster for a period of time, cannot fire

during.) More to come?


Engineer :

Weapons - Assault Rifle Type (Less Ammo then Soldier), Heavy Pistol, Welder (Explanation Below)

Abilities - Uses Welder

Skills - Faster Welding 1-3 (Increases Rate of Building with Welder),

Lesser Welding Requirements 1-3 (Lowers cost for building items)


Welding/Welder :

The welder is an Item exclusive to the Engineer, using Money the

Engineer can build things like Destroyable Walls, Turrets, Ammo Caches

(Limit on how much ammo can be given), Barracks (Fairly big.), due to

this they gain money at a faster pace. Hopefully if this does ever

start being created (I hope to help some if we can), we can have a red

Wire frame or Silhouette appear of the thing being created. Turns green

if build able there.


Medic:

Weapons - Shotgun(Lotsa Ammo), Needle (Description Below), Patches (Description Below), Pistol Type.

Abilities - Using Needle/Patches

Skills - Greater Patches 1-3 (Increases effectiveness of patches),

Charged-Needle 1-3 (Needle Gains Charges Back Every 30, 20, 10 seconds)


Descriptions:


Infestation and Remedies:

Class A Infestation:

Any Marine Who is killed has their body stay for twenty seconds in

"Critical Condition", during this time they can be Resurrected and

Cured of Infestation by a Medic. If they are not, they will respawn as

an Infestation. Upon full infestation (Respawn) the user chooses a

Infected Class from A-C.


Class B Infestation:

Any Marine who's Shield is 0, and Health is Below 30 will be overtaken

by a Green Outline (Clearly Visible By All), and after thirty seconds

will turn into a Infected Class D (Crossbreed). Upon full infestation

(Respawn) the user is automatically a D Class.


Infected:

At the beginning of a round there is only one. Infected cannot spend money, though they can gain money for future rounds.


Classes:


Class A - Phaser:

Phasers are Unique, their only weapon is their claws, and their Hit

Points is moderate. Phasers can teleport instantly by hitting Q to

teleport to a target area. Phasers run extremely fast also. If they

hold shift, they will turn invisible with a shimmer while they walk

slowly. (Hold shift to walk slowly)


Class B - Brute:

Brutes have a massive amount of Health to accompany their truly massive

size. They walk on all fours, and attack using Tackles, Bites, and

Clawing with their front hands. They also have a Devour Attack which an

empty Devour bar appears in front of them, if they stay close enough to

a marine until the bar fills, the enemy will instantly be devoured, and

respawn through Class A Infestation.


Class C - Grotesque

Grotesque have a series of Serated Tentacles which they use to attack

with, twelve in total. They can crawl up walls, and across ceilings,

they are very large but have moderate health. They also have an attack

known as Class B Devouring, in which if they walk above or on the

ceiling above a marine, they will Pounce onto them, they will then hit

a combination of 20 Letters on the keyboard. One at a time the Marine

will see these, for 1 second each, they will have a chance to hit them.

They will turn green if hit, red if not. If the marine has 10 green

letters or more they are alright, if not they are infected

automatically by Class B Infestation.


Class D - Drone

The most humanoid Infestation. These will respawn where the Marine had

died, and will be able to weild any weapon the marines or themselves

dropped. They have a lesser HP, but also have Shield still. They also

move slightly faster then Marines.

A Few Things That'd Make the Game Work Better:

1. The Red Silhouettes on Build ables.

2. The More Injuries, Slower Marines Move and React (Hit buttons, fire non-automatics, ect.)

3. Same with Infected.

4. Many Options, IE, Survive Time, Lesser Infestations (Original

Infested is Alpha, the rest are slightly weaker), No Class B

Infestation, ect.
