Operation BackFire

Development Status: TBD
Last Updated: 12 months ago
Type of Mod: Multiplayer First Person Shooter
More Info

Operation BackFire is a total conversion mod; Unreal 3 Engine. Using the UT3 engine, this mod is focusing on the rich detail of explosions and implosions. The high adrenaline, action packed, cinematic action mod is here!

When we say explosions and implosions, we mean buildings being destroyed in an epic way. Implosions is a new technique of user excitment; once armed and activated the nerobomb sucks in all particles around until the violent release.

Here's what we aim for: Big Buildings + Bombs + Slow motion before and after explosions = High Adrenaline rushes and action.

They're going to be 2 game modes in this mod. Team Destruction and Headquarter Rush.

Team Destruction -

Headquarter Rush - Its similar to Team Destruction but instead of 2 teams attacking each other. There's an offense and a defense team. The object for the offensive team is to infiltrate the enemy complex and plant the bomb. Easy enough? Wrong. The multi-story complex is heavily guarded, loaded with user-controlled turrents, mines, anything to protect the base. There is only one bomb Defense wins by holding the base for the time limit (Choose able)

Features

There isn?t much to say about the features, because we don?t know if we?re coping off of UT2007 it?s self. But WE can say is that the mod will have a slow motion mechanic that will be used before and after the explosions for the climatic, action feeling. Also we will be adding a bigger explosion/implosion mechanic because after producing a survey, gamers tend to love the idea of planting bombs with a huge explosion.

Notes:

By anymeans this is not a rip-off of the Counter Strike series.

Type of Mod: Single & Multiplayer Action Adventure

Before I start, a bit of painful honesty. I posted this mod here in order to ask for help making it. However,  I've been in the modding community for long enough to know that no one cares about my amazingly cool idea if theres nothing to back it up. And I'm not much of a modeller, so I can't whip out a render of a baretta and use that to get peoples attention. So here's the deal: sometime soon, most likely within the next week or so, I'll be posting an extremely rough alpha as a way to describe what I'm trying to do with the mod. Half of the intended features will be missing, and it will be ugly. So ugly that your monitor will burn out. But if I could make it pretty in a decent amount of time I wouldn't be asking for help now would I? So. Ugly alpha in a week or two, and no begging from me until you can see for yourself whether or not this mod has merit or potential. On to the description.

The idea behind this mod is to create a co-op experience that differes from the standard multiplayer gaming experience. Rather than having each player simply being one more gun added to the mix, the players will each have their own unique skills and ways of completing a mission, but success is only possible by combining the abilities of all the players. For example, the mission might be to assasinate someone, but only one of you is pulling the trigger. The other players are there to unlock the doors for you, or keep the police busy while you do your job.

Setting: An steampunk alternate history of China in the 1850's during the opium war and the Taiping rebellion. New advances in technology have drawn out the war with Britain. Further complicating matters, the heavenly army of Hong Xiuquan has begun an open revolt against the Qing government. Various foreign nations have also become involved in the hope of gaining control of the opium trade and claiming territory from a weakened China.
